About Chatterbox Childcare
Licensed by the Office of Early Childhood and operating under the guidelines of the National Quality Framework (NQF), the childcare centres of Chatterbox are also guided by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA). This demonstrates the commitment of Chatterbox in adhering to the approved learning frameworks that have been the result of extensive research, study, deliberation and scrutiny.
Educational programs based on the approved learning frameworks are important in supporting the children’s rapid growth and development in their crucial early years. One such framework is the Early Years Learning Framework with the following learning outcomes:
- Children have a strong sense of identity
- Children are connected with and contribute to their world
- Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
- Children are confident and involved learners
- Children are effective communicators
The resulting curriculum from those expected learning outcomes “encompasses all the interactions, experiences, routines and events, planned and unplanned, that occur in an environment designed to foster children’s learning, development and wellbeing.”
Here at Chatterbox, our role here is to facilitate and align the children’s day to day activities with the expected learning outcomes. This even includes deliberately planning the periods of “inactivity” when children are allowed to rest and sleep as well as providing them with well-balanced, nutritious meals and snacks.
Choosing the Right Childcare: What Sets Chatterbox Apart from Other Early Learning Centres
The children’s early years are crucial in their long-term development and future. What happens in their early years can have a huge influence on their success and happiness. As a result, it’s important to choose an early learning centre that can help children build a strong physical and cognitive foundation and have an amazing start in life.
Helping children develop independence and autonomy
Routines and other structured and planned activities help make sure that the children’s days are productive. These also bring children closer to achieving the learning outcomes as outlined by the Early Years Learning Framework.
Equally or perhaps more important for early childhood development, is the time for unstructured free play. Whether in an indoor or outdoor environment, free play can help children develop their autonomy and independence. They can undergo independent exploration and pursue their own interests. With lots of uninterrupted large chunks of play time here at Chatterbox, children will have more than adequate opportunities to practice their autonomy and independence. This is important in helping them further develop their creativity and problem-solving skills. It’s also a good chance for educators to watch how children behave naturally and get along with others.
Here at Chatterbox, our role is more on providing support and helping children get an amazing start in life. By aligning our curriculum and educational programs with the approved learning frameworks, we’re able to help children achieve important learning outcomes as well as develop their sense of Belonging, Being and Becoming. In addition, we provide children with adequate time and opportunities to further practice their autonomy and independence. This is crucial for their long-term future as they’re about to navigate the big school and have an exciting journey ahead.
